What's in a Name
The name of the Peak
The five links listed on this page will take you
to articles about the historical name of Mary's Peak. Kenneth Munford is
a local historian who has worked for the Horner Museum at Oregon State
University and writes, speaks and arranges tours on topics of historical
interest. In April through August of 1992 Kenneth Munford wrote four
articles for the Corvallis Gazette Times covering the history of the name
of Mary's Peak. The Friends of Mary's Peak wish to thank Mr. Munford
for his well-researched and written works and we wish to thank Mr.
Munford for allowing us to include his work on our website.. We also
wish to thank the Corvallis Gazette Times for allowing us to present this
historical perspective of Mary's Peak.
