The Friends of Mary’s Peak
has a new website thanks to contributions from members and friends.
It is about a quarter finished. When done, the website will catalog
and document an incredible ecosystem. For too long the facts about
the peak have been lost to archives long hidden or forgotten. The
website will catalog the biologic, geologic, historical and cultural diversity
of the peak. It’s a huge job...but we believe that it is an important
part of planning for the long- term safety of the biosystem. The
project will include the work of many partners. We have already attracted
the work of people who have expertise in geology, history and cultural
anthropology. The History part of the site is almost done and includes
information from three local historians... Kenneth Munford, Frank Hall
and Maria Serrot. Check it out!
Up coming ...Bob Lillie, professor of Geology at OSU has agreed to write and illustrate the Geology part of the web site. Bob will be leading a geology field trip to Mary’s Peak on July 25th. Should be very interesting and fun. WE NEED YOUR HELP!
